I use Dynamat and Dynaliner.

A lot of noise comes form the bonnet and in though the screen (yes really) and the front bulkhead by your feet etc.
I've done Dynamat and Dynaliner.on my bonnet and as soon as i have the time will be doing the engine side of the bulkhead with the same.

What thinkness mat did you use on the bonnet? And what thickness would be good for the bulkhead behind the dash? I will be doing this too when I take my car off the road in October.

That second link you posted is basically the same as roof flashing tape. That ebay company charges £40 for 3 100mm x 10m rolls which is 3sq meters, or you can get yourself to Screwfix for 3 150mm x 10m rolls (4.5sq meters) for £10each. Do the math ;)

You might use that foam that is like egg cartons with loads of peaks in it.

Put the rough side to the noise and it will dampen the sound - like they use in music studios

got mine on the local market.

These are called sound defusers. I have my games/listening room (loft) done with these studio panels.
It's not only defusers panels but an equal amount of blockers which are just big foam blocks with angled edges.

The problem though is in an automotive environment is a lot of noise comes from vibration. It better to damp this before it starts creating problems.

But use the foam defuser stuff on the back of a wooden dash to dissipate the engine noise you cannot do anything about is spot on.

A good source where there's a whole raft of information on the Talk Audio site, read some of the peoples opinions & experiences & then you can make a better decision. I bought some sound deadening from a guy on there (loudboy) which the guy who owns the blue mini clubman estate who is the loudest car in the UK uses on his roof. It was about £100 for 3 sheets (1m x 1m) & I covered my entire roof & have enough left to do the bulkhead & front floor with. It makes a massive difference in panel noise & well worth the money.

It's one of the loudest CARS in the uk, Top10. The loudest mini in Europe and the 2nd loudest mini in the world.
Darren is running 2 15" HCCA subs with 16kw, 18volt power system. 160.4db is his record in competition. :D
