this car sold on ebay yesterday, i think that it fetched good money considering the state that it was in, the car had been standing for 13 years so you can bet that the engine is seized as are the brakes probably, the console has been chopped about to fit a later type stereo and the roof gutter is very corroded as are the floors, the car sold for £1022.01 and needs a load of cash thrown at it to make it good again, it makes our mini special look like a bargain in comparison, (although our car was a bit rough when we got it) we paid nowhere near £1000 for ours so it seems that the mini specials are making a bit of a come back as there have been 3 on ebay recently, i just hope that these people realise just how difficult it is to get these mini's back to original condition as the parts for the mini 1100 specials are just about impossible to source now (i know from experience!)

linky....... :proud:

The original picture and write up below from the 20th Mini Birthday programme at Donnington in 1979. It was a great event and my first Mini show!

Really don't think it's worth that.

I do love the orange specials though. There was one for sale on here a while ago, what I'd have done for that!

was it the rose one that you saw for sale on here?....i dont know if he sold it or not, i think that he was asking £3k for it, there were a couple of original bits missing from it though, but it was a nice looking car, i know someone who bought a silver special last year for £5k so it just goes to show that these limited edition cars are being recognised again and if people are restoring them them it will make a change to look at them rather than the 100's of cooper 's' that are always at the shows now, the 1100 special must be amongst the rarest mini's at the moment, much rarer than mk1 and 2 coopers! :proud:

I had my Rose coloured Special for sale on here in June - it did sell, had a few people interested but not many. I originally had it up for £3250 with little interest but it sold at £2750 (i think i could've got more though if I had the time to wait!) It was pretty mint and had nearly all of the original bits!

Great cars and one of the best special editions (when being a special edition didn't just mean a different colour and trim...)

Personally I think they look nice and having started out with an 1100 Clubman I know just how torquey the motors are too. I`d have one! :D
