Hi there
I have a 96 Rover Mini 1.3i
There is an intermittant loud beeping noise coming from the dash area, can anyone tell me what this is about or how to disable it?
Cheers!

Is it standard UK spec or a Japanese import?

Sounds like the warning buzzer for the catalyst temperature sensor and it is getting too hot!

Yep what he said. That's the only thing I've heard of on a mini that can beep. Only the Jap spec models had them.

What's the solution? Does it need a mechanic?

Dont disable it, it is there for a reason to tell you something is wrong.
The cat could be sooted up, the substrate could be melted or broken or there could be a problem with the engine management. Best to find out what the problem is rather than just ignoring it!

My first car was a mini neon and I remember having a beeping noise coming from the dash, I think it was to do with the beaks tho, because the master cylinder was buggered. I ended up driving it into my mates gates as the pedal went straight to the floor. not fun.
