I am all new to the mini world Ive just bought a 97 rover mini cooper and I was hoping someone on TMF could let me know firstly why my SRS light is flashing and secondly how I can fix the issue.
Any help would be much appriciated!

It might just be the connections on the yellow loom, but make sure you disconnect the battery for at least 30mins before touching anything.
There are 2 connectors on the steering wheel end and a single large red plug on the ECU module under the drivers side rear seat.

Hi Stevo pritty sure you will need to get it reset using a OBD reset tool abot £10/15 on ebay

Dont bother:
1) - the SRS system is not connected to the emissions system (to which the generic OBD readers communicate with)
and
2) - No Rover mini is OBD compliant..

The airbag ECU is located on the drivers side floor under the back seat. Remove this, disconnect the plug and spray with electrical cleaner, reconnect and re-install ECU to floor.
Remove the rear plastic storage bins from both sides of the car, underneath the bins are the seatbelt assemblies, there is a yellow plug for the seatbelt pre-tensioners which connects to the airbag system, disconnect the plug, spray with electrical cleaner - re-connect.
Remove the airbag from the steering wheel, this is held in by two torx bolts. disconnect the wiring connectors, clean as above and re-connect.
Check the airbag warning light now and see if it is gone.
If not you can also remove the steering wheel and steering column covers, behind the steering wheel is a plastic ring which the airbag wiring goes through, this also needs to be checked, they can break or it may just need the contacts cleaned as well.

Using such as a voltmeter. Obviously with battery off. Airbag module unplugged and airbag away from the circuit completely disconnected?

My plan is to check the continuity on these connections like a normal circuit and see if the srs rotary ring is at fault?

Whatever you do don't resistance check the airbag connectors - seen it happen at work..
