I've just trashed my points and they are in the bin and have just installed my lumenition ignition kit from my old mini.

Starts very well. Took about an hour or so to fit include double checking everything.

Electronic Ignition is the way forward mate :( Get them points chucked :(

I would second that, though I used the petronix kit, they are all much the same in use. I would never ever go back to points again now! For the ultimate in ignition systems, (on a budget), megajolt distributorless mapped ignition is the way to go and can be done for less than the price of a reconditioned distributor. There will be a full article on this along with back to back dyno tests in issue one of Seven Magazine :(

Not sure which one is the correct one, can't remember what mine is, try ringing them up and asking and you should get the right one!

Think my '85 998 is a 45D but not sure

Dave
