Hi guys,

I have just phoned Footman James to get a quote, Thinking it would be under £1000 (I've seen people getting quotes of £850 at my age (18)

I was quoted £1850! and have to be a named driver on another car! Does anyone know why? O_O

My car is a 1996 Rover Equinox, 1275cc, No mods.

Can anyone help?

Cheers, James

Alright bud, I know what you are saying. the 1275 doesn't help but shouldn't be that much
I spoke to them today at uttoxeter mini fest, to get a renewal quote as i've been with them a year nearly, (i'm 18) and they now won't insure me on my car, as it is a 1992, and you have to be insured on another car to have classic insurance IF the car is under 20! So the woman said she'd speak to her supervisor and email me, and if not, i said I'd ring up and ask to speak to management as i'm a customer. It's just a new policy they have. What a load of Bol** if you ask me, just pricing youngsters out of driving. I mean, something as rare and valueable as a mini, in particular your equinox, you are hardly likely to to rag it are you!! :/

i dont quite understand how its about pricing younsters out when you say the CAR has to be 20 years old, you only need an early 90's mini.

from my experience from footman james they wouldnt insure me as i planned on using the car everyday even though my annual milage was set very low - that doesnt make any sense.

i would be allowed to double my annual mileage, and they would offer me insurance, so long as i dont drive everyday??

get with Flux.

This i don't understand! I'm 17 and been insured with footman james for 6 months, in that time i've changed vehicle on the policy 3 times. (and had a claim)
I told them i will be using the mini everyday as my only means of transport and i have unlimited mileage for the year and i pay £802. I don't think thats too bad considering. My current mini is a 1L but i had a 1275 and was paying just under £1,000

Sorry to hear that. Don't be disheartened, it happens to lots of people, just make sure you learn from your mistakes so you don't make them again.
