My 1981 998cc mini will not rev over 3000 RPM, its like a limiter has been reached
I have just had my Head replaced ( done about 200 Miles Since , dissy cap, plugs etc but it willn't rev over 3000RPM
The car is drivable until you get to hill were you just loose power
Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?
It has only started to happen over the last couple of days??
Many thanks
Rik

You take the whole dizzy out and refit it? And how you timed it in?

Thanks for the link
I will double check in the morning
I replaced the rectifier and rotor arm. When reconnected the HT leads i did one at a time a matched what was there
Does anyone think there could be crap in the Carb?
Also my previous head was a leaded one and this ones an unleaded?
The guy i bought the mini from last year said he had a bag of lead beads in the fuel tank ( couldn't find thies when i check the other day)
Could this be cauising issues?
Cheers

It could be wrong timing or too lean mixture, but you said it was running ok before touching the dizzy..

Leaded head or not will actually make no difference on running.
It could be wrong timing or too lean mixture, but you said it was running ok before touching the dizzy..
No i only chnaged the Dizzy as this was suggested by my friends dad who checked the old one and said it wasn't sparking strongly
We also fiddled with the mixture and that didn;t help
Thanks
