I requested this before but the forum was running a too-old version, but now we've upgraded we could add status updates. They're a absolutely brilliant way to keep the forum lively and adds another layer of communication between members, makes the site a lot more personal. Many biking forums I visit use them and I update my status on their more than any social network!

I'm a dab hand with PHP/MySQL and forum software, so I can help if needs be.

But it's not in the sidebar which is the main point, unless I have to enable it? In which case it should be there by default!

I think it should be at least trialled, as I said on all the other forums I go on it's a massive hit and makes me check the forum a lot more.

Personally I think the idea is fine.

However, if I installed that there are a handful of people on TMF who would hold me over a fire with pitchforks!

I'll deal with the angry mob :P Seriously though I really wish it was on this forum, it also prevents pointless topics coming up, on the bike forums I visit it's so nice to just pop "Anyone know the torque spec for the chain adjuster on the NC30?" and get a quick one word reply, no forum clutter of repeated questions.

It'll be hidable anyway so not like anyone will have to look at it. I'm not going to stop everyone else having fun because Kam is a bit grumpy when it comes to things which share a small similarity with Facebook.

Anyway, I was about to sort this out but the Invision Power Services site just went on a mad bender so I can't download the module. I shall sort it this week though!

This is now live!

It would have been done earlier but I didn't realise it pre-installed hook! I was hunting around for it on the IPB Marketplace and wondered why I couldn't find it! I feel a bit silly!

Anyway, enjoy sir!

Thanks, looks ace :D

Only suggestions, on all the other forums you can update your status at the top of the sidebar box for ease of access? Also, if poss perhaps display a few more at a time?

Sorry to be pushing my luck, thanks for doing this guys I really think it'll have nothing but a good impact :)

:D

As Mr Row said it don't matter whether I like it or not, TMF does not belong to me so it can do as it pleases

Doesn't this stop the information from getting around the forum and helping others though? If someone needs to know something then a search will give them the answers they need, if the answer is on there then can anyone else find it or will the search only keep to the forum topics?
