By process of elimination: Badging and steering wheel indicate 1977-80. It has a 998c engine and single instrument binnacle. The only Mini to have this combination that fits with the badging is the Mini City, introduced September 1980. I therefore declare it to be a 1980 Mini City. :)

Of course this theory could all fall down if any of the badging or fittings have been changed or if its an export model or manufactured outside the UK...

Any advances on this?

P.S. The first City has chassis number XL2S1O10 743114, if that helps.

It does appear quite likely to be a Mini city, however, as the OP has already stated, the car was imported to Mauritius with a country of origin of India so it really could be anything! Things like the rear lights don't stack up with it being a mk4 assembled for the UK market. The only way to tell for sure is to check the chassis (VIN) number.

Thanks for your leads, I am just gonna conclude that mine is one confused mini :teehee: .. Origin of country - India , Now in Mauritius .. India never manufactured these.. and the body work and exteriors are so not stock its bloody confusing.. I' ll however look into my chassis no and engine no and try to figure it out..
