So I'm wanting to get a snap off steering wheel so that my car is less likely to be stolen, however I am getting very confused as to what boss to get and what snap off boss to get.

Here are some links to the parts I have found and would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me what parts to get:

Steering wheel:

Boss #1:

Boss #2:

Snap Off Boss #1:

Snap Off Boss #2:

Thanks in advance :)

All of the parts you have listed are correct.

You need a boss so either the one from PL minis (i bought this one) or the mini spares one take your pick.

Same with the quick releases the slimline one will work with the boss as will the PL minis one.

Choice is up to you really!

If you go for the the slim line QR you will have the same setup as me

Actually one thought that might sway you

On the box for my slimline QR it did say on the box for off road use only. I presume for the company to cover themselves legally, Im willing to bet the slimline one off ebay will have the same disclaimer.

The other type however im not sure on probably best to ring and ask if it mentions it is approved for road use?

Thanks very much for your help! I'm going to get the PL mini boss and eBay snap off kit! Seems to be the cheapest option!

I was really keen on getting a snap off hub, but after thought and some research (like you not many thread replies though), I decided against it because they are bound to get play in them over time and end up with a floppy steering wheel! In motorsport they are replaced regularly and do less work than road cars.

Those snap off kits, im not sure i like the look of, call me a snob but they really dont look as well made as the lifeline made snap off kits available through tweekys etc
never heard of reports of any failures due to wear. My friend actualy works for lifeline and rates them highly, but of course he would!

I cant remember which boss kit i used (probably just the standard you can buy anywhere) but then attached the Group N quick release hub (think i got that from Rallynuts in the UK) and a Sparco flat bottom suede steering wheel. the reason for the flat bottom wheel (or D shape as some refer to them) is that combining the boss and hub brought the wheel about 65mm closer to the driver than just the boss kit so the flat bottom gives more room between wheel and knees especially if you have an altered steering column bracket. Only down side to this set up is a bit of a reach to the indicator lever but thats no big deal.

cheers
