anyone got/had one?
wondering how it compares to the mini in terms of putting a smile on your face, been offered one with all the toys but not sure what it'd be like to live with

I test drove a brabus coupe about a year ago when thinking of giving up the mini. It was most excellent fun . High smiles per mile index.
I didn't want to pay that amount for one, though. Not for a leaky bit of plastic with a highly stressed engine.
If you can get one cheap, though, & it's been looked after, bite their arms off.

yeah, it's that one - would hopefully get a good deal, it's not been bad for leaking (family member has it) and likely be kept in the shed most of the time

can you elaborate on that?
i don't really need a practical car right enough, that's what the oh's car is for! i generally use the mini for mucking about at the weekends and going to site visits/meetings - just like the idea of the smart and probably easier to get through an mot!!

(if i have the money i'll keep the mini until i get henpecked enough to make a decision between the two!)

No no no no no no no no no no no

I had one, a brabus roadster coupe. Brand New.

Had the following problems in one year....
-Fried electrics.
-Leaking Roof.
-Leaaking Door Seals.
-Leaking Cabin.
-Passenger Door catch broke whilst driving down motorway causing door to flap open.
-Cracked exhaust.
-Safe mode kept coming on.
-Car wheelied at one point.
-Mould on interior.

It went back EVERY SINGLE month. In the end I had to get trading standards involved and was banned from Mercedez dealership. Their aftercare is the worst I have ever experienced. Do not do this you will regret it.

If you look on smartmaniacs forum all of these are common place. The merc top dog actually told me that these cars should never have been sold in the UK as they cannot deal with our weather. Full stop.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh, this topic has made me mad with memories. I need a beer.

My brother had one and sold it within a few weeks because he didn't like the gearbox.

My brother does have a habbit of changing his car more than his underwear, but with this he had a point (maybe)

It was the semi-auto 'box and as he was approaching an island or sharp bend, he would slow down and wait for the box to change down. It would always take an age to change so he used the manual shift to change down, at almost the exact same time the car decided to do it, so he would jump up the revs into the turbo band and he was scared that one day it would get him into trouble.

I always take his car reviews with a pinch of salt though as, I can not emphasise enough how often he changes his car!
