...Battery?

Ladies and gentlemen I need some help - I need to find a battery that will fit in the Midas (there wasn't one with the car as it's been off the road for 10 years). The battery compartment is quite small though; it only measures 255 x 170mm.

Can somone tell me how big a standard Mini battery is and also if you know of a battery supplier that might be able to help?

That one's approx 57mm too wide. Sorry - didn't make it clear enough. Height of the standard Mini battery is fine for clearance - the battery space is 255mm long and only 170mm WIDE.

how about a race battery?? odyssey batteries do them and i know that they are vary small, almost half the width of a mini battery box.

Sadly the 038 is about 3cm to wide otherwise I'd be laughing. With some minor modification I can get a Varta B16 to fit and that's quite cheap (about £50) - those race batteries are an obscene price!!

Hmm - as far as I know - the 038 is one of the smallest lead acid batteries. Maybe try the motorbike places ?

Make sure it can turn out enough cranking current as well as fit. Is this to fit next to the Master cylinders? I have a 63 mounted next to the spare wheel Mini stylee.

have a look at an 057 type battery, their listed as 45ah, 400sae, 234mm length,128mm width, 220mm height

Although it is 5mm too long a Peugeot 206 diesel battery (027) is the largest battery that can fit in a mini battery box.
