Can anybody tell me the size of the fuel hose which goes from the bottom of the fuel tank to the metal fuel line which runs under the floor on a 1990 Racing Green with a carburettor and mechanical fuel pump (on engine).

My son's one decided to leak last night when he got home from work and I've just spent the last hour and a half clearing the mess up.

I know it's about 12" in length but I need to know the bore size.

The lines should be 1/4'' but the tank pipe was particulary fiddly to fit, so I've used a 5/16 fuel hose if i recall correctly (easier to fit), but i have a filter on that line, so i've used a 5/16 pipe from tank to the filter, then 1/4 pipe from the filter to the steel line.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies.
I bought 1/4" fuel hose from Halfords for about £4 (my son works there). It came prepacked as a 1 metre length with 2 new clips.
The pipe that was on there looks like a simple rubber pipe which has perished so badly, it has at least 6 splits in the same area!
The new hose looks like a hose within a hose and is marked 'for use with unleaded fuel'.

You were right about the sizes.
The tank outlet was 5/16" and the metal pipe which runs to the fuel pump was 1/4".
The tank end went on with a bit of lubrication and the other end slid on nicely.
The clips secured it well and no leaks!! :) :)
