Was at my grandad's garage the other day and a mini came in for an MOT, as I put it on the ramp I noticed the speaker pods. They were made of cardboard tube like in a loo roll but alot more robust, and they perfectly fit 6.5" speakers and covered in carpet. Maybe from the middle of a carpet roll? Was wondering if anyone has seen this before, or owns that mini even?! It's red, about a 86 or something, dodgy mini cooper decal, bonnet doesn't fit right and the rc40 rattles like a beast :P.. on second thoughts hope the owner doesn't read this!

But yeah, anyone know of/has done this?

Cheers

LOL.

Yes I've used this tubing. My Dad is a flooring contractor :D

It comes is various sizes up to 25cm. I've actually made a sub enclosure for a 10" sub and use it in my BMW.

Had to make a collar and back plate from MDF and glass fiber-ed the lot.

A lot of carpets now come with plastic tubes now cardboard which can be use just the same.

Aha! Thought i was right about the carpet, what size would I need for a 6.5inch? Or haven't you done that? Gonna walk into a carpet shop and see if I can get some.

<<< Got a pic up of my mini now, by the way :)

After seeing this thread i messed about with some tiny little 1 inch speakers i had with a loo roll tube and put a speaker on each end of the opening, taped it up, put some sound deadoning in and wrapped it in the interior i did my car in. Thinking of putting it inbetween the headrest and the actual seat now lol! after a bit of refinement :P
