Hi Folks,
Can i ask what you all do to keep the spare tyre in the boot secure?
Mine currently just sits in the lower part of the boot and is noisey over those pesky speed bumps. I had a Sprite a few years ago and was sure this was bolted down or something but can't seem to find any mini parts for this online?
Cheers

Maybe you're going over the speed bumps too fast.... ?
But had you thought of putting a bolt through the floor and a big wing nut and flat washer ?

You could always get an early spare tire hold down fitted. And use a mini spare tire hold down.

They were normally spot welded onto the boot floor but neatly done I am sure you could use some small nuts and bolts to hold it down.

I had a sound proof matt that covered the floor of the boot, put the wheel on top of that and it fitted in nice and snug, and if it did move you probably wouldnt hear it because of the padding in the sound proof

Good ideas.
I'm sure I didn't have this problem with my previous mini, that was probably due to having a boot lining kit holding it down.
Must get another one.

A length of threaded M10 studding with 4 nuts and 2 washers and a wing-nut. drill through the centre of the spare wheel well and fit the studding vertically until the bottom goes just far enough through the floor to fit a flat washer and two nuts, then another washer and two nuts inside, the 2nd nut in each case being used as a lock-nut. Cut the studding to length about 2" above the height of the wheel face when it's sitting in place. Then make a 4" diameter x 1/4" thick plywood disc to go over the studding, another flat washer and the wing nut. That will hold the wheel in place firmly, but be easy to remove when necessary. If the studding is about 2" longer than required you will always be able to fit a wider wheel in the future. Paint the nuts and studding where it's under the floor and coat it in Waxoyl.
