Has anyone modded or upgraded the standard auto engine & box ?
i know i could get a 1.3 unit & fit but i want to know if anyone has fitted a lcb & big bore & modified heads ?
what sort of extra power can the standard auto transmission take ?

you can mod a auto the same way as a manual
with a stage 1 kit followed next by a moded head
but you can only go so far before the auto box goes bang

I've heard of 1380 auto's and I still have a vague plan to build a 1400 auto.. the ideal is to get a lot of low down torque, rather than top end power.

im a great fan of auto's & 'lazy driving'....
im sure a good 100bhp auto would do well especially if the kickdown & gear shifting was set up right..... even my 998cc winds up nicley & soon hits 50 when the pedal is put down hard !
my ideal setup would be a 1.3 vandenplas auto metro eng' & box then throw on a nice 40 webber or dellorto , only problem i could see would be the kick down linkage from the carb....
i used to own a old W reg yellow auto some years ago & remember i screwed it around everywhere, the box soon packed in though loosing reverse gear !
