many years ago a friend of mine with a mini van asked if he could borrow my battery charger as he had a duff battery and could not afford a new one, 2 weeks later i asked for it back as i had a battery to charge up. he said he had lent it to another friend of his, i went to his friends house to ask him for it back, he had lent it out to another of his friends, again i went to this friends house to ask for it back, he got very annoyed as he was on charging his battery and did not want to leave it half charged, so i said ok and would come back the next day to collect it, guess what? he lent it out to some one else so another journey to go and collect it. i never lent the first friend another thing after that.
I would have told the first friend that he had to go get it and if he didnt, he owes me a new one. If he didnt have it back within 24 hours then he is giving me a battery charger whether is be my one or a new one.
My biggest issue is lending things out and then forgetting who I leant it too!!! Ive done it so many times. I leant out a whole roof box to someone once and never got it back, when I needed it I tried to remember who had it, but I couldnt for the life of me remember. Its so fustrating!
Im always there to help out a friend and will go to extream lenghs to help out, or lend something to someone. But I get really annoyed and fustrated when that friendship is abused. Which it almost always is. And what also gets to me is when you have gone out of your way to help someone, and when you need a hand with something suddenly everyones busy!!!
