Max Power - What Went Wrong?

So I'm guessing that this topic will take a 'battering' from people slating the whole modified car scene but thats not really what this topic is for...
I was wondering what went wrong with Max Power magazine so badly that they had to stop producing the magazine? Was it that people just aren't modifying their cars anymore? Is it that companies don't produce aftermarket bits like they used to or is it other reasons?
Just wondered what people's thoughts were (other than just slating cars with bodkits with 'serves em right')....
A penny for your thoughts....

To cut it short the magazine cost too much and didnt cover the right stuff/do itself any favours.

all the other cars were proper custom cars and Yank's / unusual cars - even Ferrari's / exotic's
it was a nice atmosphere - most of the cars were open with bonnets up
had the odd loud stereo - but it wasn't overpowering
about the same time as Max power came out the Cruise went down hill
Chav's would turn up in old bangers with whale tails on , and booming stereo's & poorly fitted body kits
I went once after - all the Custom cars had gone

The cars that turned up , must have taken hours to mod , not years
I think Max Power killed the old Cruise scene and created Chav Cruises
Max Power was about rapid customisation , with large bolt on body kits
without any in depth body modifications
All just my opinion ...

glitzy version of car and car conversions.
Dave Walker used to be involved with fast car and that too used to be a good read.
I think money is the issue, i'd bet a load of the chav cars were built using credit cars and lots and lots of finance. Working at Mcdonalds can't pay for many saxo bodykits!!
The scene has changed as well, the first max power issues were full of Dimma body kits and similar, wide arch stuff.
Insurance has forced many younger drivers off the road as well, well just into unmodifed cars anyway.
Mags are expensive but I still buy them.
- Practical Classics
-Mini Mag
-Mini world
- Practical performance car
I also like retro cars as well.
I'm old fashioned, I like to read stuff on paper and not a screen!!

The mag was a bit behind the times and had too much plastic 'fantastic' cars. Didnt really go for what is popular today, either quick and sorted cars or the subtle VW/Euro look.
Plus with a name like MAX POWER and the so called sexy ladies it was only ever viewed as a stereotypical teenage boy magazine.
Also the modified scene and car scene are two totally different entities in my view. Modified scene is balls out mods everywhere to me where as the car scene can be a fast car designed for track use or just a lad into his motor lowering and tidying it up on a tasteful set of wheels.
But then again its all open to individual opinions and outlooks on types of car.

The internet is the main reason why magazine distribution numbers are down.
Redline seem to be going the same way as MaxPower

My favorite mag at the moment is Retro Cars. I also buy both the mini mags but they all seem a bit same ish now. At least with Retro Cars theirs a nice selection of different cars.

But the modified car scene changed. That's where max power failed I think.

That's the type of car max power would feature.

That's the sort of car that fashion has moved to.
Same car, very different results.
I think I bought it when I was young, and stupid once.
But fast car sometimes have some good reads in them.
