I'm considering trying mountain boarding. I have never been able to skate board at all, but I can snowboard. I'm not great at it, but I can get down a mountain and go at decent speeds fairly confidently. (Although on my last trip in Jan, I seemed to lose all confidence and couldn't seem to do anything!)
This winter, I intend to go Snowboarding a few times - I need to practice riding switch, and I normally ride goofy. In Jan next year I'll be getting some proper tuition again and hopefully learn some tricks. I tried this year but didn't work particularly well.
I'm really hoping that mountain boarding is more akin to snowboarding that skateboarding. Does anyone on here go mountain boarding? Got any pics of your boards and prices etc. It looks like loads of fun.

not really done mountain boarding but used to kite board which is sort of similar ie getting the power from the kite to pull you along instead of gravity however the foot controls are similar but top of body balance from kite boarding compared to mountain boarding is different. from what a few friends have said that do snowboarding is that the are similar but also have a few differences from using wheels as the wheels roll whereas on a snowboard your gliding over the surface.
with mountain boards there are a few different variants but the main contender in the market is MBS

but you can get scrub boards aswell which are cheaper but also a good starting board, or even the dong dangly boards of trampa

with regards to not benn able to skate i dont think that should be a problem but if you are thinking of starting and looking at boards i would go for a MBS first and then go on to getting a sexy trampa.
another thing is that it is fun too lol but the ost important bit if kit to get is helmet and padding, ground is harder than snow and always good to protect your head and the padding is great it stopping serious injuries and also stopps annoying grass rasshes etc.
hope this helps
