Of course if someone has already done it then you may be lucky, although most people would simply swap over to the later type and fit either 8.4" (standard) or modified 8.4" down to fit the calipers in question... be it 8.3" for 10" wheels or down to 7.5" for Cooper S style brakes

They won't fit without a lot of design & machining work

Gulfclubby thank you, Well they look the part, just a wee bit expensive
I thought you could use the 7" set up as a basis for the 7.5" conversion?
Cheers shifty, I will try and fit them and see what it does. PS how is that engine coming along?

I do have a 7.5" set up in the garage as well, more than welcome to pop over and see how much is different between the 2 sets.
We could try swapping some bits and see what fits?

I am pretty certain the offsets and caliper bolt hole spacings are all wrong

The 7" hubs are a slightly modified drum hub, and the 7.5" hubs are a completely new design.... sorry I mean at the time, not now of course
I am pretty certain the offsets and caliper bolt hole spacings are all wronghowever it will be interesting (I obviously don't have a life at the moment) to find out the compatibility of the 2 different hub assemblies.
I will have a look next week, but you could be right re bolt hole spacings 7" calipers are smaller by the looks of it, get the old ones off first and will see.
cheers

Thanks Ace01, will have a look and see whats goin on in there, so older versions should/could fitThe hub for the Cooper discs is the same as the hub for the Cooper S (7.5) as well as the later 8.4inch discs. The only issue I have ever had is that the later hubs can sometimes not have a slight chamfer that you find on the earlier items. Only a problem when fitting new 7 inch discs. So not going to be a problem for you.

They use different CV's so the drive flanges must be different and the bigger discs also involved an increase in track.
