right i am sorta new to this stuff but am willing to learn a few things :) i was thing maybe like next year of converting my auto to manual but then was thinking of supercharging what involves fitting the charger to the engine etc

i have seen this kit but i dont know if its any good :)

as far as i know the head gasket needs a decompression gasket i beleve thats in the kit. you will need a 3 branch exhaust manifold. the superchargers manifolds fit onto the 2 inlet manifolds on the head. the timing gear cover will need changing to one supplied along with the extended crank pilley. 1 spacer between the water pump & cooling fan. the charger drive belt fits on from that crank pulley to the charger with a tensioner in place. then fron the charger inlet with most kits they have a long inlet tube with elbow joint , the carb fits on the end facing forward with normally an air filter cone.
the long choke & throttle cable come with some kit s (long cables are needed to reach the new position of the carb)
im not too sure about carb jetting or what oil needed for charger bearings. think thats most of it

ahh sweet mate most of the stuff you had said there is in the kit

it does say on there very easy to fit but you know what companys are like easy to them is hard to me lool :)

yeah i've heard there pretty simple to fix as long as the crank pulley or bolt is not seized up. these kits do give a great power increase without changing the engine too much so you could put it all back to standard with no fuss.
id imagine there ok for general driving too. only downer is i think it will be a tad juicee on fuel :lol:

yeah it looks a pretty good kit to be honest you see if i get this do i need to go to the legths of fitting new pistons etc etc

Its an aussie product that uses an sc12 supercharger, which is much better in size than the M45 and can be used on small bore engines no worries....

In regards to internals,usually a rule of thumb with forced induction engines is to use forged pistons due to the increase of compression/boost
Plenty of ways to drop compression, dished pistons, sandwich headgaskets, opening the chambers of the head etc.

Food for thought.... a sub 1000 pound way to do it....

Forged pistons would be overkill on anything other than the most extreme forced indiction engine. Modern cast pistons are so good these days that the old rule of thumb no longer holds muster.

If you are converting from auto to manual you will be fitting a whole new engine and box. This would be the time to build the engine suitable for forced induction i.e. low(er) compression ratio, decent exhaust valves.

Like Matty said forged pistons are a good option as they cope with a thrashing better & to be fair not a horrendous price.
Though I've seen a-series run well with just the decompression gasket supplied .
If your engines got a lot of miles. Maybe go for complete forge rebuild first ??

Sorry I forgot you had auto. So maybe build a good spec manual ready to swap.
However. I own an auto & Martin from mra mini. Said the autos are much stronger & can take over 150 hp I thnk he said

I agree with Wil, forged pistons are not essential by any means. I have run a set of Omega cast pistons for the last 3 years or so. Running a minimum of 15psi & up to 20psi. Like many others I've found them to be excellent.

I'd be interested to see this. I've yet to see an auto Turbo Mini, nevermind one with 150+hp. ;D

The metro gt turbo 1275 were made in autos I've seen a couple fitted into a mini ;)

Leyland never made the MG Metro Turbo as an automatic, only ever manual. So any Turbo autos you may have seen were certainly not from the factory.
