hi guys i was just wondering if anybody knows about bonnet bras on the mini scene. i went to a VW show recently where there were allot of german cars audis, new minis, VWs,BMWs and a allot had bonnet bras and allot of sellers were selling them. it seems that although they were originally designed to drive a show car to and from a show without letting stones chip the vulnerable areas they are now left on permanently. does anyone know if someone does them for the mini if not can a trader make a one off, and how much would it cost. if anyone has any pictures of a mini with a bonnet bra that would be helpful also.

I first saw these at Ford Fair a few months ago. I wasn't sure what they were, now I'm seeing them everywhere. I think they're the new 'in thing' to style your car with. I'm pretty sure I've seen a few minis at shows over the summer with them on, but I'm not sure where to get them from.

Can't see the point myself, do people drive to shows via dirt tracks or something?

They look stupid in my opinion.

there supposed to protect the part of the car which is most likely to be damaged by a stone. you get ones for bumpers as well. i think they look good on certain cars but iv never seen one on a mini so i cant tell you if i think they look good or not yet.

I believe bonnet bra's were used, in the beginning, to cover new desing developements on test cars..
The use of a bra is not my cup of tea anyway. :P

Originally designed to protect paintwork, Keep it on all the time and your paint will be trashed in a very short time indeed.

Besides you look like a rodney driving round with something designed to be used for shoiw cars going to a show. Far to many people have them because the other local chav says it looks cool.

Didnt read the instruction then? :P

The mask should not stay on your car more than 3-7 days max (dry)
The bra also 'must' be taken off straight away after a journey if the vehicle has been out in the rain. The bonnet bra/full bra must not be left on the vehicle for a long period of time when wet; it must be taken off and totally dried before being put back on the vehicle

Stone chips are the part of driving
The only way stone chips will de value your car is if you go to Webuyanycar or its basically stripped the paint which is highly unlikely.

Plus only worth putting on a car made of carbon fibre or fibre glass

used to protect the paint that you will never see as you will have a covet over it? sounds pointless to me. if you want to reduce stonechips stay an extra few yards back from the car in front...

the original idea was that you take them off after the journey, but some people obviously liked the look and leave them on now.
