Hi guys, just installed a rebuilt engine that I bought and just wanting to know tips on and whats the general consensus on how to bed an engine in... How to drive, milage, oil change...
Also once bedded in, will I feel a difference? Smoother ride/sound?

You will very likely get some conflicting opinions.

I'll start the controversy rolling by suggesting you should drive it as hard as you like, but keep the revs down for the first few hundred miles. The main aim is to bed in the piston rings, which requires some pressure in the cylinders. Don't use any super fancy oils for the same reason.

I would personally drive it normally but dont go too mad on the revs. Use a reasonable quality oil so as to get decent initial lubrication. Build up the revs slowly over the first thousand or so miles.

Avoid max revs and idle. It needs pressure so drive it hard enough while varing the revs.
I personally change the oil after 10 miles, 100 miles with cheapo stuff and at 500 miles over to decent stuff. After that it should be done

Whatever you do dont leave it sitting at idle in the garage on first startup

BUT...
if it has had a new camshaft this needs to be bedded in first:

This means that you have to leave the car running at 2000rpm for 20 minutes. After this is done follow the above advice

You'll see that during the bed in the engine will lack of performance and burn some oil, i've also had to change the air/fuel ratio a couple of times..
When bedding in the engine also avoid too ruch mixture like a plauge, because bore wash is very dangerous for an engine during the piston ring bed in process.

the mototune way of running in is great, i've ran in literally hundreds of engines over the years that way.
if you can, try and do the run in all on the same day. nothing more fun than blasting up and down country lanes for the day ;)

two terrible bits of advice there ;)

never use a flush and don't let an engine sit idling, it needs pressure to seal the rings.

Idling engines also take longer to get up to the temperature where the oil is designed to work so it's always better to drive straight off, but go easy on the revs until you get to running temperature.

Engine flush has its place, but it's not in newly built engines, which should have been thoroughly cleaned before they were put back together. An oil filter is all you need to protect your new bearings.
