Hi there

my mini had broken wiper motor park switch for ages. Now I replaced it, but wipers stop at completely other end of windscreen. Any ideas, why?

Cheers

you mean the motor? Well, I guess it is in some way the wrong way round as the Mini has been rebuilt from RHD to LHD in the past... The wiper assembly just fitted, never thought it can be turned around somehow...

i had the same problem, you need to remove the wiper from the car, and take the metal plate off the back.

then you will see that on the main sprocket there is a small dowel type object on one side. pull this out and put it into the slot on the opposite side of the sprocket and then refit. this will reverse the direction of the wiper arms

thanks benjy tried this today, but could not find the pin or dowel you were talking about. Did you mean sprocket next to the motor? I also looked at sprocket just at wiper arm base. Could wiper assemblies be different depending of year? Mine is from 1990. Puzzled.

There's a big, white nylon, gear in the motor it drives the rack via a pin in a hole, you move the pin. It could also be that someone has refitted the wheel boxes (the bits wiper arms attach to) upside down.

thanks guys now sorted. Had to turn nylon sprocket 180 degrees around on the metal pin. Seems another version of things.
