Hello!

Sorry if I have stolen your picture but...

Posted Image

How do you remove the paint from the area where I have indicated?

I can't sandblast or anything like that. I was just wondering if anyone knows how to do it.

I am currently using the discs on an angle grinder to strip down to bare metal but in the small nooks and crannies it won't fit.

Any help would be great :)

Thanks,

Adam

For the nooks and crannies I find it best to use some emry paper and elbow grease

have you tried any paintstripper mate? mite be quite handy for tight gaps. does have its downfalls tho- dont let it dry over night because it goes hard again.
or a wire wheel on a drill is pretty good for removing paint

I haven't tried anything. Thought I would ask on here before I start splashing the cash.

I've heard that paint stripper soaks into the metal and when you come to paint it it doesn't stick.

Is this true? If so how would I make sure it is all off.

na never had any problems with it mate, i stripped all the paint from my mini with it the other day-and sprayed some old paint over the bare metal to stop it rusting till i get round to filling the dents. and it went on fine.
but you will need to rub it down after anyway so you shouldnt have any problems with the paint not sticking. just finking of it i did use a car paint stripper thats a bit harsher than nitromors and had no probs. just make sure you use goggles and cover your arms because it stings and burns properly!!

Its advised to neutralize the paint stripper before paint by using a scotch pad (green is fine) and clean it with thinners, this will neutralize the stripper and it wont strip new paint 1-2-3+ months own the line..

Wire brush attachments work ok on drill and grinders but can be hard work to get down to bare metal sometimes.

These paint removal discs work really well if you can get at the areas. You can get drill mounted ones too:

key the paint with 40 grip paper . get it real scratch up ... put paint stripper on it nice thick coat ... then get a big sheet of thin shopping bag plastic . place it tight over the whole area stripped .

. plastic helps the stripper sweat and is more efficent ..... grinding it you are just going to scratch up the metal then you will have to put heaps of primer on it to hide all the scratched areas
