Hi i just need some advice, I am looking to build a 1275cc lump with sccr drop gear set, with 1.5 ratio full rockers and a performance cam, but not sure which one yet, but the thing I am wondering what carb will be better to use a webber 45 dcoe or a su hif44 carb?
Which one will be more drivable for everyday use?
Better on fuel economy?
and better in performance?

Any help very much appreciated.

spend the money on a worked head rather than a SCCR gear set, you'll see much better gains.

and a weber will need bulkhead mods and a lot of work to get it set up right, whereas a hif44 will not need either. the choice is yours really but a HIF44 will be better for a daily driver, performance gains are negligable really unless the engine actually requires the amount of fuel a weber can provide.

If you can get hold of it, the last issue of Mini Magazine had an article about webbers and HIF44's was quite interesting and would help alot in making a decision on your mini.

A webber 45 is not required for your engine spec...Yes it will work fine...and sound great...but the Hiff44 is ok to fuel engines up to 120bhp...what with all the mods required to fit the webber I would stick with an SU for now....

Im runing a 1380 which revs up to 7000. And my HIFF44 works just fine with no flat spots or under fueling issues.

The weber vs su threads usually turn into some kind of blondes vs brunettes debates..

In reply to the question, i'll add that the SU provides a better fuel atomization, making it more suitable for street/fast road applications.

Forget the 1.5 rockers - spend the money on something useful instead - like a decent cylinder head...... And yes -HIF 44, and if that doesn't cope then 2 X HIF 44 carbs......
