Hi all,
I'm having some trouble fixing the rear seat squab in place. I've spent ages messing with other parts of the car (1990 998) and it's only recently I've noticed the top half of the rear seat is loose. There are a couple of screw fixing points on the back of the squab, but they don't correspond with any points on the seat panel. Any ideas guys? I don't fancy Mr MOT pulling me up on that, even though it's safe to sit against.

There should be two metal tabs folded over the metal frame of the bottom of the seat back. The two screws pass through these tabs and screw into the panel behind. As they are just tabs of metal folded over the wire frame, they can move themselves along the frame so you may need to slide them along a little and relocate them slightly, to get them to line up with the holes in the panel behind.
From what I recall, on early models the seat back just hooks over the top of the metal panel at the top and is secured at the bottom using two screws described above. On later models there were also two additional screws that screw through the rear parcel shelf and into the top of the seat back frame. (These two screws are located on the underside of the rear parcel shelf and you access them through the boot)

Many thanks, I'll give it a go tomorrow. If I can get it fixed on at either lower or upper point it'll be something...

Thanks for that, AVV IT. Worked a treat it did. Hopefully now, the only chance a rear passenger has of being ejected is through my driving...
