Hopefully I will be in possesion of a rather tastey Slark Head shortly, and was considering my options on the method of getting what's just gone bang out of the engine.... ie the exhaust..

I currently use a Phase two Maniflow LCB for the 1330 and it's quite likely I'm going to need something with a little more room !

So looking into a 3 into 1...

Having a gander on minispares I see that there is now a 'Road going version' shown below..



Has anyone tried this, and also the exhaust system will be a little bespoke, with a 2" diameter centre section which will then be split by a custom Y piece into 2 RC40 tails, one left, one right ( battery box will be removed )

I reckon one issue could be the height of the 'y piece' (erm, maybe its a w piece? :erm: ), as its going to slightly lower than standard because of its size.

I think you'd have to ensure the manifolds were held on tightly at all times and the spreader washers were large enough to fit both inlet and exhaust manifolds correctly. Engine steadies would need to be good.

Apart from that, it looks good!

Oh, and the twin exit RC40's sound cool :grin:

GW, whilst Tom is right in stating that the "y" piece is larger it doesn't actually move the exhaust any closer to the ground as the top pipe sits in front of the subframe! therefor, if you look at it from underneath you would only see what looks like a standard "y" piece :cheese:

ahhaaaaaa, cool! So the centre manifold is slightly shorter then? I was wondering how they did it, so really there shouldn't be any problems at all :grin:

If ya do change it John, let me know, I may be interested in the phase 2 maniflow. What size outlet is on the Y-piece on it? 2"? or 1 3/4"??

from what i remember reading 3 into 1 manifold is for race engines

you get more high revs power but lose a bit at the bottom end of the rev range :smartass:

I'd say get the 3-branch one of yore

The one's where they all join up halfway down the block, as they apparently are more of a "rally" exhaust, where most of the power needed, is in the mid rev-range, which is what you'd need if you wanted a streetable car with a silly sized head :wink:

no idea if they still make them, or if they make them in 1.75" though!

Im sure those 3 in 1 Manifolds are supposed to be used with long duration cams but if this really is "a road 3-1" then Im not sure.
