Hi
As many of you are aware, I have had my 850cc engine rebuilt to original spec for my 1960 mini. I previously had low cylinder compression results, and the cylinder head has been rebuilt again because of this. The new results are using the Gunson compression tester:
Cylinder#1: 100 PSI
Cylinder#2: 118 PSI
Cylinder#3: 100 PSI
Cylinder#4: 100 PSI
The engine has not yet been started since rebuild, so i guess these values will improve as the rings bed in?
But are the values shown, high enough for the engine to start in the first place?
Thanks
John

As you already mentioned yourself John; the parts need setting/ bedding in.
The values are good enough to get the engine started, and will probably rise as the miles pile up.
Take care

yes the engine should start with those readings if all other things are ok, eg timing/fuel etc.
those are very low readings for a rebuilt engine. was it rebored or just new rings fitted?

put a little oil in each cylinder if the values increase a lot then you know that its a ring issue, that may just require simply bedding in. If the figures do not increase you know the valves or head gasket are not right!
