Bascially I've lost 4 inches round the waist since the start of the summer holidays and am now 32inches.
But I have lost my drive and when I get back from school I just eat naughty stuff and am really tempted by it but I have fruit for lunch and I dunno what happens then I regret eating the naughty stuff afterwards.

I want to carry on trying to lose weight and certianly not put the 4inches back on.
I want to join the gym but anyone know how much it would cost roughly I am 14? and I am a little bit embarrased to be honested to go.

Anyone got any tips for me to stop eating all the naughty stuff and any excercise I can do that is effective but isn't boring .

Many Thanks
Dan

Believe it or not walking is one of the easiest and safest ways to lose weight, you can burn approximately 600 calories an hour by walking alone.

My advise regarding snacking is if you feel hungry then drink a pint of water, many people mistaken thirst for hunger apparently.

most gyms wont allow anybody under16 to join so nopt a lot of point really. but its around £20 a month for the cheapest gyms.

find a sport you can play regularly (rugby cricket football) even a few hours training a week makes the world of difference

i stopped playing rugby four years ago and ive put on 4 stone!

Plenty of water.

I will go for a swim or a run before work. Granted it is a Royal pain in the ass getting up early sometimes but it means it is done for the day. Coming back from work or whatever can usually leave you feeling lethargic. Alternatively smash some fruit/nuts down yer grid an hour before gym time in the evening, this may help the lack of energy.

Are you wanting to continue losing weight or tone up.

The best thing for you, IMO, is to simply do some form of CV morning or night and add some self weight exercises in to mix it up a bit. Press ups, sit ups, pull ups, chin ups etc. These you can do at home without having to pay for a gym and will, hopefully, get you motivated.

I used to weigh 10 stone, and ate 'naught foods' , then I got a job as a door canvasser, walking around all day, and put on a stone in a month...

CV - Cardio-Vascular. Running or anything that gets your pulse up to a suitable level.

On the press up front (or any of the exercises) there are a number of methods.

An easy one is work on doing 10 repetitions of each exercise for 2,3,4,5....... sets. Taking 30 secs break in-between. You'll find out that by doing them in sets you will increasingly do more and more over time.

The amount of sets and/or reps is down to yourself. AVOID thrashing yourself from the get go, work on it slowly and increase your reps an/or sets.

When losing weight I would ensure you have healthy snacks available. Nuts, fruit etc etc (many articles out there with many options). It is equally important to eat all your meals though as not eating and training will do you no good.

Either prepare some snacks and take with or find somewhere that does them nearby, the temptation to smash some easy food will get the better of you at times lol.

Allow yourself a treat food wise once a week or once every 2 weeks. It could be pizza, McDs whatever.

I lost 3 stone in 4 months through dieting(more so eating properly) and training (Weights, CV and sport). For me I had to get passed my 2 week period of training which was the hardest at 1st. After that I gradually "enjoyed" it more and more.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to PM me any questions too, I am by no means an expert but I have experience of losing weight and keeping it off. Plus I have to train constantly with work . ;D

not being funny but do you have a "sporty" background, because if you do walking really wont do much, you need much higher intensity exercise.

also theres a huge difference between a good size/shape and health.

i have a sporty back ground was training for the paras when i was losing weight!

if your heart rate is more than 140 its does cardio so heart lungs etc but below that is the fat burning zone your body concentrates on burning fat and leaves the lugs etc alone!

heance why fast jog is better fo fat burning im not saying running wont lose weight it wil but not as quick look at all the professional body builder they walks for a couple of hours a day on the run up the a show and the strip that fat of them (also on strict diet)

Those gyms that allow under 16's membership are supposed to limit them to using Cardio equipment only (treadmills, exercise bikes, steppers & cross trainers etc.) You should be prevented from using weights or resistance equipment, as there is evidence that it's use can interfere with natural growth in under 16's. Personally I wouldn't want to pay out for membership when I wasn't allowed to use 75% of the equipment though.

The water trick does work, but try to drink the water ice cold if you can though, as your body will burn a few extra calories as it heats it up to body temperature when you have drunk it.

go play rugby! i do and if i didnt id be the size of a house...or the size of our props! XP

just regular fitness, none of this gym stuff, not at our age, its silly and a waste of time. walk, run, swim or rugby ( or football, but personally, it sucks XD )

just decent exercise and a balanced diet, stop buying sweets! stick the moeny in a bank so you can get a mini. the odd one is alright ;)

a fast walk is the best thing!!
i know boys who use cutting diets for body building shows, and they say this,
maybe you can google some dieting tips from the boys on the body building forums,
they know what they are talking about.

Fit carbon fibre parts :proud:. Sorry.

On a more serious point. As you are 14 I wouldn't worry about trying to loose weight. You don't say how tall you are but I didn't stop growing until I was about 17. I am actually lighter now than I was when I was about 15.

If you become too thin it can cause problems. I am under 30" waist (about 5' 9") and I have to wear a belt with everything. The only trousers I have that fit are a pair of jeans that shrunk in the wash. There can also be other more serious implications with loosing weight to fast (ketosis etc).

It is more important that you eat properly. Your body requires some carbohydrates so do not get rid of them completely out of your diet. If you do your body will try to conserve all it can making it harder to loose weight (don't go as far as the atkins diet though). Try reducing the sugar in your diet where you can. You will be amazed with the amount of excess sugar you end up consuming. Swap drinks for their sugar free equivalents.
