Slight O/s Drive Shaft Oil Leak

Think i have found a little gem of a mini but one bad point is the above title. any ideas what this could be and how much would cost to get fixed. any help much appreciated

replace drive flange oil seal...................1-2 hrs work.................need new oil seal and flange gasket £5............remove top ball joint and steering arm ball joint pop out pot from G/box and then undo 5 bolts and gently lift off diff side cover remove old oil seal, pop in new seal and refit................ :proud:

Hi

Kinda hi-jacking your question here sorry, but what if you replace the drive flange oil seal and it still leaks? What is likely to be the problem and how expensive to fix it?

Have you damaged the new seal when fitting it?? Have you checked where the seal fits that there is no damage ie burrs, crack etc. Also that is was cleaned before fitting the new seal.

If you've replaced the seal without damaging it and you're sure the oil is coming from where the pot joint enters the casing and not tracking from somewhere else then it sounds like the bronze bush that the pot joint runs in is worn out.

You'll need to replace the bush and have it reamed out to fit the pot joint I believe.
