Hello all,

I've just agreed my final year degree project, I'm studying Automotive engineering at Sunderland Uni and I'm looking at the supercharger systems that are currently available on the market for the Mini... Analysing the benifits and limitations of each system with the aim of producing an improved manifold design.

If you have a supercharged classic Mini, it would be great if you could attach a photo of your engine to this post with the engine specs and power figures of your set up.

Thanks in advance.

Jon.

Ah I see, well if you can, give me a shout. Even so, if you don't mind me asking, what spec is your set up and how much power/torque are you producing?

Cheers, Jon.

That's great, thanks again for the pictures. Does the copper coil around the inlet pipe work to stop the icing problem?

Suck through vs blow though is what you should be looking at if you're looking at supercharger systems alone.

I would eliminate induction type from the project really and look at injection. But not just chucking a throttle body in place of the carb.

Take a read through this.

there are heaps or options out there for power . just find what one fits your budget .. there are always people that say things are better ..

as with mine . i know i built that motor to wistand way more power than the eaton will chuck at it ..

i want more power but i just wont see it with eaton suck through .. i just dont know if i want to go through the hassle of it anymore and the cash

or i would go turbo

just going to do megajolt to sort out the pinking ( that the aldon dizzy shuld have ) then i will leave it

Thanks for the reply, yeah that is probably going to be the main focus, there are arguments for each depending on the required power. I'll have a look, cheers.

Well, i wouldn't say there are arguments for each. The single point injection injection system on the 5 port doesn't solve the problem really. All it gives you is slightly more control. You still get the same problem of fuel distribution with the carb, in fact id say its possibly worse due to shots of fuel being fired as opposed to constant atomisation.

If you look at the kit from specialist components, they will argue the point with you all day long. But you pull a head off an engine that their injection system has been on. The outer cylinders will run leaner.
