The only one I know of really is the 1380 engine builder DVD with bill sollis. Its a good watch and definitely helped me with my first rebuild.

I've got the a series DVD with Bob Sollis. It's really very good and well presented. The point where they can't get the clutch off and cut the film amused me.

I've just used the Bill Sollis 1380 DVD when I took apart my engine, good piece of reference and well worth a look!

The bill solis one is good but does miss bits out.

But with that a haynes and google you should be fine.

it does have to be pretty much a guide for the total beginner. I have swapped engines and done all the usual stuff ok, but am a bit bothered about some of
the precision type stuff. Also if i have to spend a fortune on new tools etc it may be a false economy...especially as theres always a chance that the resulting engine may be crap when finished. I guess these are thoughts many people must have when looking to do this for the first time.
Or am I over thinking it all and its not the rocket science that I'm expecting it to be? Any hints or tips on how to go about things would be appreciated.

I downloaded the box wrench engine building dvds from somewhere online, they really helped me learn but they're using V8's and V12's and there are obvious differences but it really helped me. I would recommend. Not the most easy thing to watch all the way through but what do you expect from an engine building DVD eh? Oh P.S. they don't include the transmission on the one I watched. Cheers.

If your starting out then you ideally want all the info your watching to be around the engine your taking apart rather than a generic engine dvd - the bill sollis one does this, its over 4 hours long which is quite something and is in depth, ok there a couple of bits that are not in there but the bulk of what you need is there including the all singing and dancing gearbox complete strip down and rebuild - the best bit really

Check it out here - Clicky

You might be able to get a copy from ebay or even from a show or as above, check out the classifieds on here aswell

As mentioned above used alongside your haynes and of course this forum its money well spent, no doubt about that

Hi

I have used Bills DVD and i found it very informative and all i really needed for a complete strip and rebuild of the gear box.
I haven't used the engine section yet, although i have watched it and it seems fairly comprehensive.
I would recommend it!

Bill Solis apparently has done several DVDs.  Can someone tell me the title of the one referred to here?  I have a 1275 from a GT I want to rebuild.

thanks.

Jack
