SW5 or above

Do you, perchance, have the duration and lift of the SW5 compared to the 266?

Of course

Inlet Lift Exhaust lift Duration power Band Overlap
SW5 7.14 7.14 244/244 1000-6000 28
266 6.68 6.85 260/270 1500-6500 36
I can do you the nominal valve lift in stages aswell if you want?
Oh and the 731 has a lift of 6.4 In / 6.4 Ex but an duration of 268 which may make it a little too 'cammy'

I've always liked the Kent range as they seem to have a cam for every application and the 266 is a particularly good cam for a 1275.
I built a 1098 for a Sprite with a 276 and twin HS4's, etc, and it gave 75 bhp at 5800 rpm. Not bad low down either, but it had a very low final drive ratio.

Yup that would be my choice!MG Metro or Kent 266 will be ideal. In fact they are very similar.

It was still not fast enough so we changed the engine for a 'full-on' 970 'S' engine giving 85 bhp ay 6700 rpm. Then it was a class winner. Personally I never liked it in either engine config. Not like my 1293.
