Like you said, way to good to be true. Witnessed my girlfriend waste about £30 on it in about 10 mins and got nothing out of it. There must be some sort of strategy or system to better your chances of winning but im sure you could waste alot of money working it out.

it costs you to place a bid (to the next increment amount), something like 50p per bid.

but also each bid increases the time on the auction. So you bid with 10secs left, it adds 10mins to auction so theres 10mins:10secs left now and you get outbid in that time by someone else etc etc.

Im pretty sure its a pound a bid, rather than 50p.

You bid £1 to push it up 1p, so in theory if it goes up a quid, the company have got £100 out of it. So when they say "oh this macbook pro sold for £126.21", theyve got £12,621 out of it. A profit of 10 - 11k for one item.

Absolute huge rip off and waste of time!

People will always want a bargain, more so now in the current times

Madbid are like vultures just circling round preying on the weak taking 'advantage' of current hardship.......as above, stay away

Nice little earner, it says a £1,399 Mac took a total £6973.52.

That must equate to a lot of losers: 11,431 @ 60p a pop for nothing.

Does anyone know of anyone getting a massive bargain e.g. a new car for approx £200?

They'd be 1 in 20,000 if they did.

I agree, it is a waste of money, but solely from a business point of view, its a genius idea. There are so many people out there that want a bargain. Basically, everyone else helps you pay for something to get it cheap. In the meantime, the company are raking in the money.

If someone is prepared to buy the bids, and understand there is a fairly high chance they won't be the person who wins, then that's up to them. You can't fault the owners for their quite frankly genius idea.

It's no different to the way TV channels etc fund their prizes. For example, the Gadget Show has a prize kitty worth in excess of 20k usually, full of gadgets that are awesome, a lot of which people would never use. But they are all paid for by people entering the competition at £1.50 a text or phone call. Everyone who enters is kindly helping one person get very lucky.

Human greed. You have to love it.
