Hi there, I was driving my Mini the other day and got caught in torrential rain. It must have got in to the electrics somewhere because my speakers went quiet then started making popping and cracking noises (there are 2 in the parcel shelf, Hertz HCX 165's)
Next thing I know was the head unit (an Alpine 112ri) came up with "DC ERROR" on the screen, which I believe is a short circuit somewhere.
I turned the head unit off but the speakers were still making noises, so I pulled over and unplugged them.
I let it dry off for a day or so to see if that would sort it. The head unit works but sound is only coming out of one speaker. It comes out of the right one, unless I unplug the right one, then the left one starts working???

I haven't had a look at the back of the head unit yet, as I have just got back from a weekend away.
Has anyone got any ideas as to where the rain could be finding its way in, or what I can do to get the speakers working properly??

Has the windscreen leaked and water got to the head unit?

I took it out and found some water marks on the back of the head unit, and there was a bit of corrosion on one of the chips inside it. I cleaned it and now it is back working perfectly!

I think the windscreen seal could be the real issue here though, I need to take a good look at it sometime.

Thanks guys :D
