Dear col7778 (**********@yahoo.co.uk)

Based on your account information and activity, it looks like user ID georgeagdgdgwngo666 is associated with your account. This usually indicates that both accounts belong to the same person.

Because the other account is restricted or otherwise not meeting minimum seller standards, we've changed the amount you can list on eBay.

You can now sell up to 10 items or up to £700.00 per month, whichever comes first. After 90 days, we'll reassess your account and may increase your limits based on your selling performance. Similar to how credit card limits work, these allowances will increase over time as sellers show that they can handle the increased sales volume. You can also increase your limits sooner by resolving any open issues with the associated account. We've already sent instructions for resolving these issues to the email address registered to that account.

Recieved this via Ebay what does it mean.i very rarely sell mainly buy.

it means that for some reason they think you have had a previous account and then got kicked/banned and then made another account. if you haven't had a previous account with ebay under that name i'd contact them right away.

thanks

Could be that someone else has managed to get access to your e-mail and maybe create a new user under it or something, mind you, if you ever try to do that it won't let you - you cant have multiple accounts under one e-mail, bizarre

As above, I'd ring them straight away - the eBay support number is 0800 358 6552 but you need to go through this process first (whereby you select your problem so a specific adviser can help you - here: http://ocs.ebay.co.u...I.dll?ContactCS but sign in first then click that link!

Hope some of that helps

Thats a bit odd, I got this message yesterday:-

We've detected some unusual activity on your eBay account, and it looks like your password may have become known to a third party. In order to protect you and your eBay account we've reset your password and Secret Question (password hint).

The unusual activity may be a result of using a sniping site to bid on your behalf at the last minute, using a public-use computer or could be a result of you answering a spoof mail. You'll find more information on spoof below.

We've had to change passwords....bit of a coincidence huh?

you usually get that message (one in original post) when you have been naughty, bidding on your own items.

I know a bloke who was selling a car, he was using another account (but from the same pc and ip) to bid up the car to increase the price. Ebay clocked this and restricted both accounts, he can now only list/sell afew items and his account is constantly reviewed by ebay.

Did the email turn up in your ebay account? If not then it is probably what is known as a spoof/phishing email.

if you are sent any suspicious emails then foward them to [email protected]

The following information and advice is from the Ebay site.
Practical tips
  • Communications from eBay and eBay members always appear in your My eBay Messages
  • Keep your account protected by being aware of the tricks fraudsters use
    • They may try to make you go to a fake website and divulge your login information or financial details
    • They may send fake emails suggesting that your account has been (or will be) suspended
    • They may send fake Second Chance Offer (SCO) emails or ask questions about items you are not selling or have not bought
In all cases you should log into your account to confirm whether an email is legitimate or not.
  • Always access your account by typing the eBay URL (e.g. www.ebay.com) directly in a new browser window – never log into your eBay account using links in an email
  • If an email doesn’t look quite like the notifications you receive from eBay or PayPal, and particularly if the email contains grammatical or spelling errors, you should be highly suspicious – forward any suspicious emails to [email protected] for confirmation
  • Always use secure passwords for both your eBay and email accounts. Here are some tips for creating a safe password:
    • Secure passwords are 6 or more characters long and contain a combination of numbers and letters
    • eBay passwords are case sensitive – so you can use a combination of capital and lower-case letters for increased security
    • Don’t use the same password for your eBay and email account
    • Never write your password down where someone can easily access it
    • You should consider changing your passwords regularly (e.g. every 6 months)
  • Never give out any sensitive details like bank information or passwords
  • Install anti-virus and anti-malware software on all computers you use and ensure they’re kept up to date – most are very easy to install and maintain, and some are free for personal use.

Has happened to me before on an account, contact eBay, let them know you have no connection to them, they will ask for proof of id and address etc, and they should then lift the limit.

No idea why they think the accounts are somehow linked, basically the account they think is linked is a dodgy one, and has been used to try and get something without paying.
