As promised, Painted pictures!
She's just getting polished up at the moment but it has just started snowing here, sod's law, so hopefully if the snow stops she'll come home tomorrow.

I'm glad to announce that, after many weeks of delays and set backs, Toria is finally back home!

The trailer is for racing Jags so was a bit big for the job. She only just managed to straddle the gap and was looking a little lost on it, we we're joking about putting her on width ways. :D
As you can imagine I instantly started the rebuild and was in the garage until 1:30AM Friday and all day yesterday.
Everything is going well at the moment but I have had to start a list of parts I'll be needing, now that the body is immaculate certain parts, nuts and bolts and stuff look a right mess.
So far I've got the wiring harness back in, I've started to modify it for the new additions like the custom dash switches. Fitted out the engine bay. I've dropped out the subs and fitted the steering rack, fuel/brake lines, made up a new main battery feed, grommited all the floor holes and PU sealed them all as well as the joints and anywhere rust prone. Then I went onto the messy job of wax oiling every inch of the under body.
Just a little side note of the wax oil; if you go to buy a tin in the future and are offered the "easy application spray gun" don't bother! It is the most useless object I've ever come across, considering you have to spray upwards you would think they would make it to work pointing upwards, evidently not!... Sorry rant over.

I know it's a bit naughty but I couldn't resist fitting a few bits of bright work whilst waiting for the wax oil to go off but I have justified it because most of it is electrical and needs to checked against the new bits of the wiring harness... that's my story and I'm sticking with it! :P

I'm quite happy with the progress and next weekend I hope to tackle the engine. I'll keep you guys posted.

Cheers, yeah be my guest, I think the sets were £10 for a set of two off ebay, so £20 all in. :)

Cheers, we only used stripper on the roof and rear floor pan as the paint was so thick. Most of the original paint had already gone with the old panels haha.
It's nasty stuff so anyone thinking of using this get protective wears and put as much on as possible, it eats through anything including skin.

The engine is in!
It was a little tricky but went fairly smoothly. We lifted the body up and mounted the engine on the subframe, then using a borrowed pallet truck we lifted the subframe up with the engine whilst inching the body down until they met, made the final adjustments and lowered the body in and bolted up. Job done!

Before all that happened I invested in Hi-lo suspension so a good half of the day went on fitting that and now the van has a lovely stance.
The next job on my list now is connecting everything back up. I have started on the engine and also the electrics so alot of parts are going back on now so I can make sure it will all still works before the interior goes in.

Before I show you the milestone that has been ticked off here a few pics to catch up on what I have been doing. Over the weekend I got the steering rack in, pedals and gear linkage/stick. The exhaust, fuel tank and carb.
I also made a start on the custom dash switches so a lot of electrical equipment is up and running.

Well with the Easter break I have been able to get a few good sessions going in the garage ;).
Haha yeah If I'm not sick to death of the insides of Mini's I'll lend a hand. I've been keeping a eye on your thread, making some great progress yourself mate.

It's full steam ahead at the moment!
I've got another large chunk done, but it is proving difficult to remember it all.
Let's see, oh yeah after getting the engine running I sorted out the brake system going, bled through and everything just to find that the master cylinder had failed.
Was not impressed as you can imagine, so that was a £110 bill, a nightmare job of swapping new for old whilst making sure no brake fluid touched my new paint job. :S
I've also fitted the electronic ignition system meaning I should be able to drive her in the rain without braking down every 10 feet.
Since that I have picked up the rest of the van from the paint shop, ie front doors, bonnet, rear hinges and a few little things. I have started to build up the doors, they are coming along nicely although fitting the sliding windows is flaming witch craft!
Seen as the engine is now pretty much done I decided to treat myself to a fun job and I finished off the front end, so she has her face back now! :)
My list of jobs is slowly getting smaller, the majority of the work now is the interior. Not long now! :D
