I've always preferred the regular Mustang to the GT500. I think it got too popular after Gone in 60 Seconds. The regular Mustangs look a lot nicer imo.

Although (risk of this turning in to a muscle car topic = high) the Pontiac Firebird:

They'll be gauges. Alot of the old muscle cars had the tachometer sticking out of the bonnet. That what he has done looks aftermarket to me though. I could be mistaken however!
