After just mentioning it in a post I thought I might have a go at seeing what people think to get rid of, or reduce that unbearable sound, when I have my sub kicking the boot lid 'farts' and rattles away, is there a way of reducing that sound because it can actually be heard in the car :( and it's actually quite embarrassing when at shows :(

so if there's something I need to buy or get a different amp to power whatever I have better or literally anything to the right bolt or screw, please say :)

cheers ash

Turn your sub down?

What exactly is making the sound?

And the vibration is being caused by the sub :P.

Without you finding out what it is exactly that's making the sound, there isn't alot anyone can advise you on.

it's the bootlid, it vibrates, i just wondered if it could be that i have no sound deadening, or if i needed a new boot seal or something...

The fact you have no sound deadening isn't going to help matters...

Seriously are these posts Trolling?

You stick a sub on the boot... Use no sound deadning... Fill the holes that might let the air in to the car with chav'ey 6x9's (sorry but it's true they are).
And then wonder why air is pushing pasted the boot lid seal and farting??

I do hope your daily job is nothing with risk attached, as your lack of logical thought process is stunning!

LOL - beggers belief eh Ruckus.

My suggestion would be to read the first 50 odd posts in the ICE forum & learn something new.

If your car boot is 'farting' & is supposedly the loudest on the island then the other cars mustn't be very good. Think of it this way, if you have a powerful V8 engine put a standard mini exhaust on it & covered half the air intake it isn't exactly going to give you full power is it?
You need to sound deaden the boot lid/petrol tank/boot floor/back seat, use some sort of foam behind the license plate & make sure the handle is keeping the boot closed properly & make sure there are NO speakers in the parcel shelf & there are hole in it for the air to get from the boot to the cabin.
AFTER doing that then come back & ask more questions if you still have problems.

Another quick one: What sub & amp do you have & what other speakers do you have in the car & where?

i filled all the gaps in my boot with expanding foam then sound deadened the whole lot made a massive difference as no air was getting lost

alright, just because i'm not an expert doesn't make me a chav, i like 6x9s because they deliver good sound for what i like, if its that that you think could be causing part of this sound problem then why not suggest it instead of insulting me, no i am not a proffessional, i'm a mechanic by day, this is a learning curve for me, i just thought a bit of help from the guys on here might get my problem gone, but if you lot are gonna be shitty about the matter, then keep your opinions to yourself, i am only asking a question.

and just so you know the sound system is played with doors and bootlid open, and i'm gonna start by taking the 6x9s off the shelf and covering it in felt but leaving my holes where the 6x9s were but just covered up so the air can travel

No ones calling you a chav :).

Just curious - how come you want to play your system for people outside the car - not in (doors + boot open)?.
