Hello
I have my 1275GT in at the paint shop now and i need an engine for it i have a few broke engines lying about but i am not that confident in building up my own one!!
So
Where would you all suggest i start looking for a complete 1275 engine ready to fit !!? not fussed about lots of power as she is more off a looker than a goer i have a few other minis i can play with for the speed fun factor !! i have fitted and removed plenty engines so am ok on that front !!
I know this may not be the cheapest route to take but am looking for easy option as mentioned am not to confident in strip one down and rebuilding then finding i have missed some thing and causes me hassle in the future!!
am based way up north in Aberdeen ............

Me personally if I had a few 'broken' engines around I would rebuild them. I realise though you say that you are not confident at rebuilding one yourself.
If I was in your position I would look for an engine builder and get them to rebuild one of your existing engines. That way you will guarantee it works and all is Ok. if you end up buying one of ebay you might be lucky then again you might not be. You could end up spending a load of money on an engine that goes pop within a few miles.
Also descent 1275s are getting harder to get hold of as everybody takes the 998 out and wants to drop a 1275 in.

I have a 1275 Metro lump in bits in the garage for my Midas project. I was going to just get an Engine kit but feel after talking to the ever-helpful guys on the Midas forum that getting a local engineering shop to do the work is preferable. MiniSpeed, MED and MiniSport are all miles away whereas a great Engineering firm with a very knowledgeable boss is only 5 miles down the road http://www.coltecracing.com/
My advice is to ring round a few engineering shops, get some quotes and get a feel for what they can offer you.
