i have a maestro that ive owned for about 2 months now. i only needed it to get me to and from my new job until they sorted me a van out.
this morning i had a letter saying my insurance has been cancelled due to a mix up with my bank for some reason and cant be bothered with the hassle so im now selling it.
its a 1985 1.3 austin maestro, its done only 33000 miles since new. when i bought it i was amazed at how good the body work is. only having surface rust on the door steps where water sits and i little bubble on a door. the floors, boot floor, engine bay, wings bonnet etc are all in amazing condition.
it has and mot untill the end of october next year and has tax i think for the full year too (could be 6 months ill check)
it had been sat for three years previous to me owning it and started up at the first turn of the key. i took it for an mot and it only needed and exhaust centre pipe which i fitted the next day and the washer jets needed cleaning.
before me there were three owners. one was the dealership as they used it as a demonstrator, they then sold it to an old woman who collected her pension in it. then it was sold on to a friend of mine who i used to work with. he used it for a couple of years then it was parked up on his mothers drive sinse.
despite the car being so good especially for its age there are a couple of things that, although dont affect the car too much, still need to be said.
The headlining has separated and sagged in the middle (apparently this is a common thing?) i have stuck it back up with thumb tacks for the time being.
the temperature guage occasionally doesnt read true. on starting it will go right up to full hot then whilst driving will randomly start working again. i have a spare temperature guage in a clocks pod which is included. along with all the temperature senders etc. to fix it. if i have time i will change the guage.
(its important to say the car has never got too warm whilst ive been driving it, i left it running stood still to see test the electric fan which does cut in when the car gets too hot and cools it down again)
if the car has been left cold for a couple of days it will take a while to start, it has never let me down and i believe this is also a common fault to which a manual choke conversion can be done. once the car has warmed up it drives, steers and stops perfectly.
i think that is all the bad points, like i say it has been a great car to run about in i have done over 1500 miles since i got it and it has never let me down. my first weekend owning the car took me from doncaster down to northampton with no problems at all.
it had a new exhaust for the mot and i fitted a new passenger mirror the other day as the old one was very loose and would adjust when you closed the door. i have a new drivers one to match too along with a box of spares, (service parts, coil etc.)
i have been as honest as i can with this, if you have any questions regarding it please dont hesitate to reply on here or call me on 07590196566.
i will post some pictures up after i have cleaned it all today, its gotten a bit dirty in this bad weather.
im looking to get around £700 for it as its such a great car and i would like to get back what ive put in to it. but i am completely open to offers
thanks

some more pictures as requested (sorry for the quality in some, i didnt have much space at work)

this picture shows a few small key marks

i can get another picture of the spare wheel area and condition of the boot if needed, didnt have time to empty it today. the boot floor is near mint (completely solid) condition with only a couple of scratches from loading etc. and the spare wheel has only ever been on once while the previous owner painted a wheel.
realised today that its still VERY original, down to the number plates from the original dealership.
33671 genuine miles, with some service history (thats what the folder is on the back seat)

I can't see the pics at work, but I will be home later. I'll have a look then. I just need a cheap runaround for a few months.
Also, where are you?
