Well went down the car club today to prep the mini for painting, Wanted to remove the rear lights. Took tank out and the l/h damper mount had a nasty rust hole around it!!! Nicley hid away behind the petrol tank can't imagine how long it would have taken for me to notice that had i not taken the tank out,
also found the boot floor knackered under the tank and the more you grind away it turns out most of the boot floor was buggered . So I spent all day welding the boot up and didn't get any painting prep done.

I'm glad i spotted it though.

You've scared me now! :w00t: There are probably rust-bunnies lurking in places I wouldn't think to (can't be arsed to) look for in my car! :w00t:

GSMS, My mind is on the exact same track as yours!

But I just drive my car until Somthing falls off. Then I get it fixed. Tee hee.

Im doing a complete Shell rebuild next month, So I will Hunt down and Eliminate ALL the little Rust bunnies!

I know most of my shell is ok. But its starting to bubble underneath the seals In the rear opening window frame area.

SO thats the next task, To Sand it down and hammerite the lot!

You could see daylight through the hole and into the wheel arch! I would imagine if you put a bright light in the boot and looked into the wheel arches you would be able to see if there were any large holes?

i went to fit a flip front on my mini and ended up stripping thw whole thing down because i discovered some rust under the old wings. so i thought better make sure there is no more rust lurking anywhere stripped the whole thing down lol. but i was glad i did gave me peace of mind if nothing else i have to patch behind the dampener mounts as that had rotted and there a a couple of small patches required on the flitch's and my rear valance everything else is good
