Im aware that people put the box in, but could you get away with it.

Ive been told that a mini spi engine bay is bigger to accomadate the extra bits.
You've been told wrong...

Well that got me wondering so i thought with what i have in mind i might be able to pull it off.the engine is mounted a bit further fowards on a injection

T2 on a T3 manifold would still need the box
T2 on a mirage manifold will fit in a non-injection car, so you just have more (unnecesary) room behind the turbo...
Whenever you pull the engine forwards, you're reducing your intercooler / oil cooler / front mounted radiator room...
