Ive been told that a mini spi engine bay is bigger to accomadate the extra bits. And what im wondering is, when you turn a spi to turbo would you have more room at the back for the bits without having the bulk head mod. Because im designing the best layout in the engine bay to be as clean as possible and least ammount of pipes.

Im aware that people put the box in, but could you get away with it.

T3 would still need the box.
T2 on a T3 manifold would still need the box
T2 on a mirage manifold will fit in a non-injection car, so you just have more (unnecesary) room behind the turbo...

Whenever you pull the engine forwards, you're reducing your intercooler / oil cooler / front mounted radiator room...

yup, my cars got an injection front subframe thanks to the rover parts bin. it made fitting an intercooler and oil cooler a right pain in the arse untill i chopped the front off and made it a clubby. still a tight squeeze on the radiator though, the dizzy cap is up against it....not for much longer though!

It's only 12mm further forward. Doesn't give you much extra space.

10mm further forward thats all. Have a look at the holes in the subframe at the engine mounts and you can see there is another set 10mm further back

Edit: Doh :nugget: Should read the full topic before posting :nugget:
