Why cant you get hold of some rare Cylinder heads anymore? 998 Cooper for example, Where have the moulds for these gone? Rover dident just throw them away did they? :erm:

Id say there is enough demmand for such items, So why are the discontinued?

Yup.

Well, not Rover. BL, the most short sighted red tape wrapped over bureaucratic company ever to have been forced upon the Birtish public by a Labour government (but only because the NHS isn't a company :lol: ).

Forging tools and casting patterns for this kind of thing do show up from time to time, generally in the sheds of old men who worked for BL / Austin Rover so they might re-appear in the future.

It costs a lot to cast a load of iron parts as spares just to sit on the shelf somewhere even if you don't finish machine them. There's no-one making 1275 blocks or heads now either and who-knows where the tooling is.

Although until BMW brought them, BMH were making 998 blocks still even though the Mini hadn't had small bore engines for a few years. They were making quite a few race and rally parts actually, wish I still had their old catalogue.
