Hello folks, I've bought this dashboard but not sure how it fits. It's fibre glass, old stock, second hand, so no sending back. Doesn't look like it's ever been fitted, so no holes or anything. It looks the part for the mini, but is just too short & leaves a gap between the middle rail & the bottom of the dash. The top part of the dash looks like it should cover the top rail as it is contoured & has vent cut outs.If anyone knows anything about this sort of dash please let me know. See picture below.

Dash dropped down to sit on the middle rail below. Could use a later top rail as well. But top of dash doesn't look right.

Options I've thought of so far. Use a top rail as well, but I don't think it'll look right. Buy another dash altogether. Shame because this one looked different. Or I set about modifying this one by adding material to fill gap.

Good idea. That would explain why it fits the width but not the depth. Maybe minus shell? I have a look at Midas ones as well.

Looks like it would fit with the top rail in place... But you may also be right with the minus idea!

The minus is looking possible. From the minus register home page..'it also has a shortened body height of 3inches'. 'the Dash also has to be thought about due to less height between the dash 'bars/rails'. ' I'll do some more home work. Alternatively....anyone with a minus want to buy a dash???? Lol.

Might originally have been supplied with a matching bottom rail to replace the standard one that makes up the gap.

Thanks, Iain. That's a possibility as well. I might look at making an mdf panel to cover all the front & the gap. I could do that first without having to cut the dash. Then commit after I'm happy it'll work. Time to hone my woodworking skills..!

My thoughts were for a minus, having had one myself...

you could always slice the bottom the dashin half, then add in a strip to make up the height, rather than add to the bottom... I think that would look much neater....

Its a nice dash that! should look great fitted

Thanks Ed, all good ideas welcome. I think something like this will work well if I take my time.

Hmm could always make up a capping that goes from the windshield to the top of that dash with it on a lower position, nice wide dash top like a modern car heh.
