Hello all

Just need to buy a Torx bit for my impact driver and wanted to ask whats the size of the Torx on the door hinges?

I would go and check but I don't have access to the door at the minute.

Its a 1996 spi door if that makes a difference.

Thanks :D

Ha ha yeah mate no worries.

I am going to start work on the door when I am next back up in a few weeks so want to have all the bits I need. So I am not in a rush really.

Also I may drop you a line nearer christmas if I need any extra bits from you!

Cheers

As far as I am aware the door hinges on a mini are connected to the door by a posi drive machine screw. The other side of the hinge bolts to the door supports and inner flitchs with a stud that is part of the hinges and a 1/2" unf nut.

I don't know of anywhere on a mini where torx screws are used although I may be wrong.

The later mini doors used Torx screws to attach the hinges to the doors and body. Earlier type doors used the posi-drive screws

But with BL/Rover I guess any mix of things is possible no matter what the year!

Aye if you can get the torn bit onto a socket ratchet it will make your life a LOT easier than a screwdriver style. Either way soak them in WD40 first!

I think they are ok to remove as long as you have a good tool!

Thanks everyone!

I will be using WD40 and a Sykes Pickavant Impact Driver with said T30 Torx bit.

Hopefully the Impact driver will be enough to get them moving then finish them off with a socket wrench

Cool
