First look for one of the following... metro, meastro, montego, mini cooper ( you'll be lucky ! ) and some marina's Itals, and allegros, old Rovers even SD1's they may have the older HIF6 which is basically the same. also vans...

HIF's, as in the picture above have the Float body integrated to the main carb body undeneath, and not attached to the side...

The quickest way to identify a carbs size (unless you know tag numbers) with it still on the car, and you cannot see the size of the hole in the back is to remove the suction chamber (dashpot), it's only three screws so take a flat headed screwdriver with you. and measuure the diameter of the piston at the end where the needle is.. that's the same size as the venturi.

What you want to avoid are HIF44E's which have an electronic choke on the side, as this connects to an engine management system which you will not be able to fit to the mini

Last time I checked there were more minis at the breakers in Sittingbourne, behind the Asda, in Gas road. They don't have all the cars piled on top of each other their either, so its easier to get to stuff.

Ok, Went to bobbing Breakers today. Got myself a Rather dirty Carb From a 23k A series 1275 metro (MG)

Now Ive no idea on what the carb is, So Ill put the picture here!

Ive measured the Mouth of the carb, It is spot on 1.75 Inch

Now on the side of the carb, there are 3 "Nipples".

One of them Is obviously for the petrol (From the tank)

One is an Overflow yea?

But theres one more? And I dont know what it is!

Edit: Ive got it now.

The bottom one is Fuel In right?

Top Middle is a Float Vent?

Middle one (nearer the engine) would be the engine breather?

the bottom one is the fuel inlet, the angled one above that is the fuel overflow, the angled one to the right of that is where the breather pipes connect to

Fair do's mate. Werent sure whether you were going to put it on a 998. In which case it might be abit to big for a mild engine.
