I have been overhauling my front disc brakes, and just noticed some scary looking bits in my front n/s wheel arch. After poking around with a screwdriver, it turns out they're not so scary. There's some cracks in the stuff that's been put over the metal (really thick paint or some sort of sealing stuff) and this has allowed surface rust to develop in the arch.
I plan on promptly grinding this off and cleaning the metal right back. If I stick a few coats of hammerite on, what else can I put over it to keep the rot away? Thought waxoyl, but I've heard that washes off too easily from arches.
Many thanks.
