Hello,

I am finding that my wing mounted aerial is basically rubbish, its always got really bad signal, which is disappointing as my HU wasn't cheap to its ruining it a bit.

I had tried one of those electric aerials, which was really good as it was much longer. But unfortunately I was lazy and didn't fit the strap to the bottom of it and it leant on the wheel and got ripped off O_O , oops.

Do the normal wing mounted ones earth them selves on the wing or do they not require earthing? As I could drill and run a wire to a proper earth to improve if they do.

Anyway what I wanted to know is how I can either improve the one I have or does anybody know of any good wing mounted aerials or internal ones?

On a side note, the roof mounted ones are not an option, I have a sunroof and don't really fancy fiddling about with the headlining to fit one AND I don't want to cut a hole in my roof :D.

Thanks!

I read an article that basically said roof mounted aerials are better because they are higher up. Mini's being so small, aerial on the wing puts it really low down.
So you saying the longer aerial was better makes sense.
My bro in law as a telescopic one and it does seem to get better reception than my short rubber one. (both wing mounted)
And yes they should earth themselves through the body

Yeah mines a telescopic one at the moment, So if they earth through the wing then in theory could just drill a little hole on the metal bit underneath attach some wire and earth it properly and that should help?

Can't hurt but they normally have some sort of serated fixing for attaching under the wing which should give a good enough earth if the contact points are clean and tight
